The Sale of Courtney Hebert (7086757)

As the world turns on its axis, the makers of Hattrick are inventing more ways to confuse the living daylights out of new users. The ever watchful veterans of the game look for new users like sheep for the wolves. Veterans as well have to adjust to Hattrick?s changing economy, new features, and quickly adapting teams. They adjust most often at the expense of new members. So it is a rite of passage as we stumble through the twists and turns of learning this vast game. So it is those very twist and turns that make all of us guess at what is best for our team. So it is again those very twist and turns that make all of us unique, different from each other, as we have all twisted and turned different directions, and will continue to do so for ever more...

In my first year of Hattrick I remember my first good sale, or was it? His name was Courtney Hebert player (7086757). Courtney was a troubled young lad. He was a controversial player that had some talent. I read in a forum somewhere that said you should dump these controversial athletes as they drag your team spirit into the ground. I made a killing on Courtney in the transfer market. He was worth 45,000 € and I sold him for 115,000 €. Wow, I felt like a natural at this. I would assemble a winning team in no time.

Now that some lessons have been learned let us look at that same deal. Courtney Herbert was a young talent who needed little training. He is now worth 374,000 € to his current team, and will easily bring over 500,000 € the day he hits the transfer list again. He was named the most dominating player on the SSV Turbine Dresden team with a rating of 4 ½ stars in his last match. Oh how I could use him today.

The advice I received in the forum was ½ true. Had the advice giver been more complete, controversial players can have an ill effect on your team. Leadership needs to be considered in this factor. Courtney Hebert has Inadequate Leadership Skills, thus making his disruption a low probability. His upside and talent far outmatched the risk of disruption. Just another example of how the wise veterans of this game will benefit from a young mistake. The advice giver was not a bad person. The team who now holds Courtney Hebert is not a bad owner as well. He is a benefactor of my own lack of research and experience. The fault is my own, and is a comical one as well, considering my midfield is the only part of my game in immediate need of improving for my league.

Lessons learned at my expense and the expense of my fellow Hottrick Staff Members will be published on this site for readers of all levels.
